MAIGARI REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO GOLDEN EAGLETS

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Aminu Maigari, has stated that the present coaching crew of the Golden Eaglets would be accorded the necessary support to qualify the country for the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup to be held in UAE.

The Maigari-led NFF board’s election into office coincided with the country’s lost opportunity to qualify for the last African Under-17 Youth Championship held in Rwanda.

The Golden Eaglets; then under coach Monday Odigie, were edged out of the African tournament by Democratic Republic of Congo causing their failure to make it to the FIFA tournament hosted and won by Mexico recently.

But reflecting on his one year anniversary in office, the amiable president said the incoming coaching crew of the Golden Eaglets are already guaranteed maximum support as they set to rebuild the team from scratch.

The NFF were actually restrained from discharging their duties following the post election crisis that nearly tore Nigerian football to shreds.

The NFF would soon expectedly meet the new coaching staff of the national Under-17 team with a view to working out modalities for upcoming tournaments amongst other things.
