Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi will be fined 5,000 dollars for missing yesterday's deadline to report to the Nigeria camp.
All players were expected to show up yesterday by lunchtime, but Mikel called to inform officials that he would only come in today as he needed time to attend to family matters.
Team officials were unimpressed and have now handed down the fine to the player.
The other 21 invited players trained on Saturday afternoon at the training pitch of the Abuja National Stadium, led by captain Joseph Yobo.
